Workshops

We have put together a series of workshops which are fun and yet will contribute to the multicultural education of our children.

A Kids of Culture workshop gives your children the unique experience of music from dynamic cultures of the world.

African Workshop

The African workshop will have the children drumming, clapping, dancing and singing along with a wild man from the jungle. In his bright, colourful, traditional dress and with loud, exotic drums and percussion instruments, he will cause the kids to "go ape" as they make thunderous music together. During the workshop they can dress up like little natives and have a traditional tribal mark painted on their faces.

Islander Workshop

Can you picture colorful sarongs and franjapanis? Jana Rose, our funky performer whose origins are from Western Samoa will thrill you with spine tingling harmonies. She will have the kids beating traditional bamboo drums and there will be lots of dancing, clapping and singing. The children, all with franjapanis around their necks and their faces painted like natives of the Islands, will feel like they are on a palm -tree lined tropical island.

Indigenous Workshop

Your children will take a journey back millions of years into the Dream Time, with our Indigenous Workshop. The children will all believe they are from a local Indigenous tribe as they play their own didgeridoo, have their face painted with Ochre and wear traditional Emu feathers in the their hair. They will all try to make a boomerang come back and even attempt to make fire with sticks. In this workshop, you will also receive a copy of "The Brave Ant" , an Aboriginal story book for children, that can be used for colouring-in sheets.

We also have an "Indigenous Arts" workshop, where the children all get to paint their own Aboriginal painting to take home, or join in painting on a larger canvas for the centre to keep. The children will also enjoy didgeridoo playing and face painting. A color-in page for after the workshop, is also provided.

World Music Workshop

This workshop is an dynamic fusion of world music. With traditional drums and instruments sourced from all over the world, children will get to experience the sounds of many cultures. Alfredo, who is an exciting musician with a passion for world music, will share his love of latino, african and middle eastern music. Children who attend this workshop will experience the energy of exotic festivals in far away places. Plus tribal face painting will remind the children of their world music experience.

All of our workshops cost $260 excluding the Indigenous Workshop which is $290. Included also is a color-in page, for the children to do after the workshop, which will help implement their cultural experience. So to secure your preferred date and time please contact us.
